Power To The People 4LP
On August 30, 1972, JOHN LENNON & YOKO ONO/Plastic Ono Band with Elephantâs Memory and Special Guests headlined two historic ONE TO ONE Concerts at Madison Square Garden, New York City. These charitable benefit shows played to a combined audience of 40,000 people and helped to raise over $1.5 million to support children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They were John Lennonâs only full-length concerts after leaving The Beatles and the last two full-length concerts that John & Yoko performed together.
Excerpts from the concerts were featured as part of ONE TO ONE - the critically acclaimed documentary about John & Yoko, directed by Kevin Macdonald and Executive Produced by Sean Ono Lennon, and POWER TO THE PEOPLE â the films of the concerts, directed by Simon Hilton â are due for release next year.
Produced by SEAN ONO LENNON leading his 5 x GRAMMYÂź Award-winning team, both concerts have been completely remixed and re-engineered from scratch by PAUL HICKS and SAM GANNON, using brand new HD multitrack transfers by ROB STEVENS, with the mixes mastered by ALEX WHARTON at Abbey Road Studios. Both concerts are separately featured here as âAfternoonâ and âEveningâ shows.
This Audiophile 4-LP Deluxe Collectorâs Edition is housed in a 12-inch rigid lift-off-lid box, featuring silver foil titling and a lenticular cover of John & Yokoâs faces with a layered, dynamic 3D effect. Inside, a rigid clear O-card with a printed logo encases two gatefold sleeves containing four 180g black vinyl records with rice paper inner sleeves and an 8 page booklet. Additionally the set includes 2 postcards, 2 sticker sheets, a large format newsprint poster and a VIP envelope containing 2 replica concert tickets, a replica VIP backstage pass and a replica aftershow pass, all uniquely produced with textured, archival materials. Art Direction by Sean Ono Lennon, Simon Hilton and Liz Hirsch. Cover, logo and booklet design by Liz Hirsch.
